“How many more of us have to die?”: Buffalo shootings shake Syracuse’s Black community: The cold-blooded massacre that took place in Buffalo on Saturday — when an 18-year-old white man went hunting for Black people and killed 10 with his assault rifle at a Tops supermarket — felt jarringly close for many Syracuse residents, especially those whose skin color matched the victims. Some knew people who were gunned down at the Tops market. Others made frantic calls to Buffalo to check on relatives and friends. In the wake of the atrocity, Black residents of Syracuse shared their reactions with Syracuse.com. They expressed shock at the depths of the horror, but they were not surprised at the racism that led to it. The shootings seemed unfathomable. Yet they were all too consistent with the bias that hangs over the lives of Black citizens. Because of Buffalo, fear is rising, they said.

It’s official: Goodbye Carrier Dome, hello JMA Wireless Dome: Syracuse University announced a 10-year naming rights agreement with JMA Wireless on Thursday morning that will rename the area’s most famous building.
