Bethlehem barber retires after 43 years

Denny Roebuck has many jobs. Among them: historian, mediator, therapist, storyteller, daytime bartender (his favorite). All of those positions fall under the umbrella term “barber,” which was the job for which he was being paid. But not anymore.

The 65-year-old Roebuck cut someone else’s hair for the last time on Friday, ending a week-long stretch of 25 haircuts a day for his most long-term clients, and thus, a 43-year career of cutting hair in Bethlehem. He’s sold his shop at 1518 W. Broad St., which’ll be taken over by a new barber to start their own career. Before Roebuck closed up, though, he had one last haircut to give: a quick trim for 96-year-old Ishie Abraham.
